As of November 8, 2016, Arizona residents voted in favor of Proposition 205, which made recreational marijuana legal in the state. The law took effect on December 31, 2016.

Adults age 21 and older can now possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana and grow up to six plants in their homes. They can also create edibles and extracts from the plants.

Marijuana will be taxed at 15 percent, and the revenue will be used for public education, public safety, and healthcare.
